Common questions

Is the free 2GB server really free forever?

Yes — no time limit, no card, no catch. Your 2GB server stays live as long as your account is active. One free server per account. Upgrade when you need more RAM or player slots.

Can I upgrade my plan without losing my server data?

Yes. Upgrading is seamless — your world files, plugins, and configs carry over. No downtime required for most upgrade paths. Your players won't even notice.

How do the UUID-based permissions work?

In your server's permissions panel, type a player's Minecraft username or their UUID. Set them as Operator (full panel access) or Member (console view and basic controls). Remove them any time.

What modpacks are supported?

FTB, CurseForge, and custom modpacks are supported on 16GB and above. Light mods (fewer than 50 mods) run fine on 8GB. Modpack support requires at least Advanced 16GB for stable performance with 10+ players.

What DDoS protection is in place?

All servers route through TCPShield, which absorbs Layer 4 attacks and hides your server's real IP. Hetzner's network also provides infrastructure-level DDoS mitigation as a second layer. Your home network is never exposed.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes — monthly plans can be cancelled at any time before the next billing date. Quarterly and annual plans can be cancelled with a prorated refund within 7 days of purchase. No lock-in, no penalties.

What happens to the free server when no one is online?

Free servers sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity. When a player connects, they're routed to our void lobby server — an always-on, empty void world — while their server wakes in the background (~60 seconds). Once it's ready, the proxy transfers them automatically with no manual reconnection needed.

The void lobby is also our Minecraft verification server, so players waiting for their server to start can run /verify YOUR_CODE while they wait. One server, two purposes. Paid plans are 24/7 always on and bypass the lobby entirely.

How does Minecraft account verification work?

In your account Connections tab, generate a 6-character code. Join verify.lowlight.gg — our always-on void lobby (the same server free-tier players wait in while their server starts) — and run /verify YOUR_CODE. The server links your Minecraft UUID to your account automatically. Codes expire after 15 minutes. Your Discord bot can also handle this via /mc-verify YOUR_CODE.
